Trump Calls Loved Ones of Shot Guard Soldiers to the White House
Former President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to attend the executive mansion.
He noted that he spoke to her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.
Background on the Tragic Shooting
US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a attack on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in critical condition.
Memorials across the state have been held in their honor.
Presidential Call
The commander-in-chief stated he’s discussed a White House visit for the loved ones of both individuals of the state Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president told reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Support
Community members assembled over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to assist public safety in the capital.
Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the kind of student that educators wished for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the head of her alma mater, stated to the press. “She was kind, compassionate and always willing to support those in need.”
Service plans for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Legal Measures and Policy Adjustments
Officials have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and charges of violent assault while armed.
The incident prompted the government to pause asylum applications and halt issuing visas to owners of travel documents.
Status of the Airman
Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the news agency.
He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey mentioned on television.
Attorney general Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Memory of Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with honor, as stated by the military.
“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had bravery,” the governor told the gathering at the service. “Though her life was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
