Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are confirmed to reprise their roles in the new Hunger Games instalment, Sunrise on the Reaping.
Reports indicate that original stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.
A Major Comeback for the Franchise
Lawrence and Hutcherson are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. It is believed their cameos will likely occur in a flash-forward sequence, as the main film series concluded with their characters living in peace.
This represents the sixth cinematic outing in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a newly published work by author Suzanne Collins. It will be the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who directed the majority of the previous films in the series.
The Plot and New Cast
The film's story are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several prominent actors in important characters:
- Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a earlier incarnation of the menacing President Snow.

In other news, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a Golden Globe for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson stars in the sequel to the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
