Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The newest Far Cry instalment that players explored was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for embracing action and insanity with similar enthusiasm, all while telling gripping, politically driven stories. It’s no surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series brought on board two creators whose projects have exemplified all of those qualities.
About the Series
Based on Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' structure by having a fresh setting and group of personalities in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series under their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we do not know what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the producer.
“Getting to work with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family continues to lift me up with their constant belief and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style show. Each game is a variation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can evolve from season to season, while always delving into the essence of society through this complex and unpredictable perspective, is a dream come true. I’m excited to work with Rob and introduce our mutual unconventional, visionary style to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
