Donald Trump's Approach Present a Risk to Civilization.
The domestic and foreign strategies – ranging from the challenge to the democratic process previously to current actions and warnings – undermine not only domestic and international jurisprudence. The implications are broader.
These actions threaten the fundamental meaning of what we mean by.
A moral purpose of civilized society is to stop the more powerful from preying upon and using the vulnerable. Failing that, we risk being locked in a conflict of all against all where survival of the strongest wins.
This ideal is central of the nation's founding texts. It is equally the foundation of the global system established after WWII supported by the America, which stresses international cooperation, democratic governance, human rights, and the rule of law.
Yet, it is a fragile principle, often broken by those who choose to misuse their authority. Preserving it demands that the powerful have a sense of duty to refrain from seeking short-term wins, and that the public ensure they answer for their actions when they fail.
Absolute power is not right. It makes for turmoil, disruption, and war.
Whenever individuals, companies, or nations that are advantaged attack and exploit those that are less so, the framework of civilization weakens. If such aggression are left unchecked, the system fails. Without intervention, the world can descend into instability and violence. We have seen this pattern previously.
Our current reality is a global community grown vastly more unequal. Authority and resources are held by fewer hands than ever before. This invites the privileged to take advantage of the less fortunate because they perceive themselves as untouchable.
The fortunes of a small group of billionaires is difficult to fathom. The reach of global industrial giants extends over numerous countries. AI is could centralize resources and influence to a greater degree. The offensive capability of the world's largest nations is unprecedented in human history.
Supported by a compliant faction and an accommodating judicial body, the highest office has been turned into the most dominant and unchecked entity of the state in the modern era.
Put it all together and you see the danger.
A clear connection links earlier lawless actions to present-day threats. These were founded upon the hubris of omnipotence.
You see a similar pattern in international affairs: in military conflicts, in coercive diplomacy, and in the worldwide exploitation by industrial titans.
But, raw power does not make right. It fosters instability, revolution, and armed conflict.
Historical evidence demonstrates that laws and norms to constrain the influential also safeguard them. Absent these limits, their endless appetite for more power and wealth eventually bring them down – and with them their enterprises, countries, or domains. And threaten world war.
This blatant lawlessness will cast a long shadow over the nation and the world – and the very idea of a rules-based order – for a long time.
