British tennis star Emma Raducanu concludes the current season and will keep trainer for 2026.
Raducanu reached the third round in three of the four Grand Slams this year.
Britain's Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events of the year because of a health issue she has been fighting in recent days.
Raducanu, aged 22 was due to play in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to regain her health before starting her preparations for 2026.
Her upcoming training will include her coach Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together in 2026.
She underwent blood pressure monitoring while playing the initial match with Ann Li in Wuhan last week and stopped playing when trailing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.
She needed once more a visit from the doctor at the Ningbo Open this week, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.
She was also playing noticeably restricted in the final set versus Zhu because of back discomfort that has been a concern during parts of the season.
These outcomes followed a positive campaign, in which she climbed into the top 30 globally after more than three years for the first time since 2022, finished with a trio of defeats.
The athlete was close to victory with three match points then was defeated by Pegula in round three in the Beijing tournament last month.
Raducanu won 28 matches during 2025 and advanced to the semis in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami Open in March.
As Britain's top player advanced to the quarters of a premier WTA event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route prior to a loss in three sets to the world number four Pegula.
Her coach was Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig taking over in time for the US Open.
The original arrangement with the former trainer of Nadal was until the end of the season but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled late this year.
The athlete revealed that the trial session alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.
She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati during August.
Roig joined her in the New York tournament, where she made the third stage before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
