Barça Ready for Historic Match at Partially Completed Camp Nou over the weekend
Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition over two years following their departure for construction to commence.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. When completed, it will accommodate over 104,000 attendees, a rise from the old capacity. Officials confirmed completed upgrades featured an updated entryway for the team along with upgraded changing facilities.
Stadium Testing
Barça organized an open training session inside the stadium earlier this month. They mentioned they are seeking authorization from European football’s governing body to host the next European match against Eintracht Frankfurt in December at the stadium. Previous fixtures took place in the temporary ground.
