Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday night. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on Monday, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
Honoring the Deceased
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital comes as the global fight fans had expressed sympathy for the champion in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
