Aircraft Carrying US Defense Secretary Required to Touch Down in UK Because of Crack in Cockpit Window
A plane carrying the US defense secretary was forced to make an emergency landing in the UK on Wednesday following a fracture was found in the plane's windshield, according to an official statement which confirmed that the secretary was unharmed.
"The plane landed in accordance with standard protocol and all passengers, such as Pete Hegseth, is safe," a spokesperson said in a online announcement.
Hegseth was returning from a short visit to the city of Brussels when the incident occurred.
This event does not mark the first time that a American defense plane ferrying a high-ranking official has experienced technical problems.
In a previous incident this year, a US Air Force plane transporting the US Secretary of State to Munich was required to turn back to the US capital after encountering a technical issue.
